A slab is only as honest as the dirt under it. The pad is where the building actually gets built.

What a real pad involves

• Cut and fill to a level plane. Rutherford County ground rolls more than it looks like it does. We cut the high side, fill the low side, and get the footprint dead level — with fill placed in thin lifts and compacted, never dumped in one push.
• Built proud of grade. The pad finishes higher than the surrounding ground so rain runs off it, not onto it. A pad set flush with the yard becomes a bathtub with a building in it.
• Water routed around it. Uphill runoff gets a swale or ditch before it ever reaches the pad. On sloped sites this step matters as much as the compaction.
• Stone cap where called for. A crusher-run working surface keeps the pad usable in wet weather while you wait on your builder, and gives concrete crews a clean stage.
