Dirt Work in Christiana

South of Murfreesboro the lots turn into land. Christiana dirt work is acreage work — long gravel drives, barn pads, farm entrances — and it's the part of the county where our machines feel most at home.

Where the driveway is a quarter mile long

In Christiana, a gravel drive isn't a landscaping choice — it's the road to your house, and it's often several hundred feet of it. Building one that survives farm trucks and February takes the full treatment: stripped subgrade, fabric over the soft stretches, crusher run compacted in lifts, a crown that sheds rain sideways, and ditches that actually carry it away. That's the gravel driveway trade at rural scale, and rescuing older drives that were built as one dump of rock is half the work we do down here. Long drives get walked and priced by the foot, with the soft spots called out before anyone commits.

Barns, shops, and the pad under the dream

The southern end of the county is where Rutherford's barndominium and pole-barn boom actually lives. A building pad on Christiana acreage is a real earthwork project: siting the footprint where the land drains instead of where it floods, cutting into the rise rather than fighting it, and compacting fill in lifts so a 2,400-square-foot slab doesn't crack over lazy dirt. We also cut the approach so concrete trucks can reach the pour — a detail that surprises people exactly once.

Farm entrances and the county ditch

Every drive off these roads crosses a ditch line, and the culvert under your entrance is the most neglected pipe on the property. Crushed, undersized, or silted culverts back water up the ditch, flood the entrance, and rot the first fifty feet of driveway. We dig out failed pipes, set new ones at the ditch's true grade, size them for the water that road actually collects, and armor the ends against washout. Pair that with pasture grading, pond-overflow drainage routes, or a water-line trench to the barn, and the machine earns its float trip.

Christiana, Fosterville, the Rockvale side — if it's off Shelbyville Highway and it's made of dirt, we'll come look at it.
