What we dig

• Utility trenches. Water lines to the barn, power out to the shop, conduit runs, downspout and drain lines — cut to depth, bedded, and backfilled in compacted lifts so the trench doesn't become next year's sunken stripe across the yard.
• Stump-hole dig-outs. When a tree is gone, the root ball and the cavity it leaves are still a hazard. We dig out the debris, backfill with proper material, and compact it so the lawn doesn't crater there in two years.
• Foundation and footer dig-outs. Basements, crawl spaces, additions, and footers cut to the depths your builder and inspector call for.
• General dirt moving. Cut here, fill there, haul the rest — including getting spoils off site instead of leaving you a mountain.

The rock question, answered up front

Murfreesboro sits on shallow limestone, and it doesn't announce its depth in advance. Some yards give you four feet of clay; some give you fourteen inches. So we scope it honestly: what the job costs if the digging stays in soil, and what changes if we hit rock that needs a hammer. You hear both numbers before we start, not after the machine stops.

Big machine or small doorway

Open Christiana acreage takes a full-size excavator and gets done fast. But a lot of this county's dig work lives behind houses in Smyrna and La Vergne, where the only way in is a gate-width side yard. That's mini-excavator territory — narrow tracks, plywood down to protect the lawn, dirt staged and walked out. Slower, tidier, same result.
